How We Review
At ReviewedStack, every score you see is earned — not bought, not sponsored, and not generated without human oversight.
Here’s exactly how we evaluate every tool we cover.
Our Promise
We are independently owned and operated. No software company pays us to rank their product in front of others, and no affiliate relationship influences our scores or verdicts. If we recommend a tool, it’s because it genuinely deserves it.
Our Research Process
Each ReviewedStack review is built on structured research combining multiple sources:
- Official product documentation, pricing pages, and feature announcements from the vendor
- Verified user reviews from G2, Trustpilot, Capterra, and Reddit communities
- Expert analysis and independent journalist coverage
- Where available, free trial or demo evaluation of the product
- Editorial fact-checking against current vendor information
Our scores reflect a synthesis of these sources, weighted by relevance and recency. We clearly note when direct product access was part of our evaluation.
Our Use of AI
ReviewedStack uses AI-assisted research and analysis as part of our editorial process. AI helps us gather, structure, and synthesise information from multiple sources efficiently — so we can cover more tools without sacrificing depth or accuracy.
Every review is editorially reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before publication. AI is a research and writing tool in our process — not a replacement for editorial judgement.
We believe transparency about how content is produced is as important as the content itself. You deserve to know exactly how the information you rely on is put together.
Our 5-Point Evaluation Framework
Every tool we review is scored across five criteria, each weighted equally to produce a final score out of 10.
- Features & Functionality
Does the tool do what it promises? We assess the depth of the feature set, how well core functions are executed, and whether advanced capabilities justify the price jump from free or starter plans. - Ease of Use
Can a non-technical user get started without a manual? We evaluate onboarding experience, UI clarity, learning curve, and how quickly a new user can complete a real task. - Pricing & Value
Is the pricing transparent, fair, and scalable? We analyse every pricing tier, flag hidden costs, and assess whether the value delivered matches what you pay — especially at the small business and freelancer level. - Integrations
Does it play well with the tools you already use? We test compatibility with the most common business tools — including Zapier, Slack, Google Workspace, and
category-specific platforms. - Customer Support
Is help available when things go wrong? We evaluate documentation quality, response times, live chat availability, and community resources.
Our Scoring System
Each criterion is scored from 1 to 10. The five scores are averaged to produce the Overall Score.
- 9.0 – 10.0 ★ Exceptional — one of the best in class
- 7.5 – 8.9 ✓ Recommended — strong choice for most users
- 6.0 – 7.4 ◎ Decent — good for specific use cases
- Below 6.0 ✗ Not Recommended — significant drawbacks
Every review also includes a Verdict — a plain-English recommendation that tells you exactly who the tool is best suited for, and who should look elsewhere.
How We Test
Every tool we cover goes through a structured research process — regardless of whether direct access is available. We analyse official product documentation, pricing pages, and feature announcements from the vendor. We cross-reference verified user reviews from G2, Trustpilot, Capterra, and Reddit communities. We review expert analysis and independent journalist coverage, and we fact-check all information against current vendor data before publication.
Where a free trial or demo is available, we go further. We sign up for a real account and complete a standard set of tasks relevant to the tool’s primary use case. We test integrations with at least three common platforms, contact customer support with a real question, and document our experience in real time. Where possible, we evaluate tools over a minimum of seven days to capture the full onboarding-to-daily-use experience. Reviews based on direct product access are clearly noted as such.
Comparisons & Best-Of Lists
When comparing two tools head-to-head, we apply the same 5-point framework to each and evaluate them side by side across identical tasks and scenarios.
Best-of lists are ranked by Overall Score within the specific use case stated in the article title. A tool ranked #1 for freelancers may rank differently in an enterprise-focused list — context always matters.
Editorial Policy
ReviewedStack operates under a strict editorial policy. Scores, rankings, and verdicts are determined solely by our evaluation framework and are never influenced by vendor relationships, sponsored arrangements, or affiliate commissions. Editors have final say on all published content before it goes live.
We do not accept payment for positive reviews, or preferential placement in best-of lists. Tools are included based on relevance and quality — not commercial agreements. If a tool is not a strong fit for a given use case, we say so plainly.
Keeping Reviews Up to Date
SaaS pricing and features change frequently. We review and update our articles when:
- A tool releases a significant feature update
- Pricing tiers change
- We receive credible reader feedback about outdated information
- Our scheduled annual review cycle triggers a re-test
Every article displays a “Last Updated” date so you always know how fresh the information is.
Affiliate Links & Editorial Independence
Some of our reviews contain affiliate links. If you purchase through one of these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence our scores, rankings, or verdicts. We review tools the same way whether or not an affiliate programme exists. For full details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
